Artists

The Pitt Studio & Gallery welcomes proposals from artists who work in all media, whose work has some contemporary values be it in content or concept.

We are aspiring to push the boundaries of art and deal with new issues which are of significance and will challenge the viewer to look at any given subject in a different way, there is no prescribed way or 'house style' however artists should be flexible through a critique system of finding a way of displaying work in context, artists will be offered solo exhibitions and group exhibitions and inclusion in events and travelling exhibitions.

What ever ideas you have will be considered, we welcome site specific works, installations as well as the exhibition of recent works.

Artists are permitted to sell works through the gallery but our main aim is as a museum or institution giving artists the opportunity of showcasing their works and the public an in-depth understanding of their practice. We are not primarily a commercial gallery, works sold carry a 35% commission so keep this in mind when pricing your works.

The gallery actively seeks funding for individual art projects, exhibitions and events from awarding bodies such as the Arts Council and also from commercial business. This funding subsidises the cost of any given show however the precise budget of each project is negotiable. Artists are encouraged to be pro-active in raising funds and donate toward marketing and display costs.

The space is very versatile and offers audio and projection facilities, we can accommodate works which involve the use of a computer and a large LCD flat screen monitor as well as a digital projection. Sound artists can make use of the gallery acoustics and surround sound speaker system. Outside we have a sculpture garden which can accommodate large and small works.

Our relationship with artists is paramount to us we aim to accommodate all artists regardless of race, creed, gender, sexuality or disability we are an equal opportunities organisation. We actively seek out networks of practicing artists, art societies, groups and museums nationally and encourage contact from any interested parties.
